What type of songs do you want to see on Natalie's next album?

Remixed standards with contemporary artists sounds like an interesting idea. However, I'd also love to see Natalie devote an entire album to jazz (her roots). She sounds absolutely wonderful when she sings the big band swing type of music. I love listening to her sing Ella Fitzgerald and the likes. I had the pleasure of listening to Natalie Cole when she gave a concert to military personnel on Yokosuka Naval Base (in Japan) in the mid-1970's. She is a truly gifted singer. A rare talent. Hope to see her around for years to come.

First of all, WELCOME "lovesjazz" to the message board! We're glad you're here! I'm hoping for a Gospel CD!
God Bless Natalie Cole!

Well, whether it's Jazz, R&B, or Gospel, Ms. Cole will put her own spin on it so I'm happy for whatever she puts out. I'd also love for her to be able to add another Grammy to her collection.

I believe at this point, maybe taking the same route as Michael Buble might be a good idea. His latest cd CALL ME IRRESPONSIBLE is quite impressive. He does covers of standards and jazz with some pop and 2 new originals. At this point, I believe a full r&b cd just won't happen. At 58 years old, Natalie just isn't the soul shouting R&B artist anymore. Her voice is still in top form, but doing her old style r&b from her past might not be the best thing to keep her voice in good shape. Over the last 10 years or so, Natalie seems to HOLD BACK more when she sings live. I believe that she does that in order not to damage her voice. I've already accepted the fact that I will not see or hear the same Natalie Cole concert that was recorded for NATALIE LIVE. I have many great memories from her concerts in the 70s. I am just thankful she still performs live shows today. Also, I'm surprised Natalie never did a tribute cd to Ella. Natalie always seems to do an outstanding job with Ella's songs.

There's an amazing song by a Nashville artist, Lorrie Morgan, It's titled "Something in Red", a beautiful song. It's a country singer singing a song written for one as Natalie. She'd do wonders with it. Have any of you heard it?
